Secondary school event - Hull University

At the secondary enterprise day at on 21 November 200 pupils from 11 of Hull’s schools attended an Entrepreneurship Masterclass Pupils from Andrew Marvel School receive their award from Home Secretary Alan Johnson MP", which challenges young people to think about starting their own business as a career and becoming an entrepreneur.
Key speakers included U-Explore chief executive Andy Pickles of Jive
Bunny fame, Phil Batty of Force-7 and Phil Benson and Simon Long of  Xing Health and Amanda Hartley of amandas Blue Orchid Diana Johnson MP introduced a recorded interview of Ed Balls MP Secretary of State for Children Schools and Families and Jim Knight MP Minister for Schools who were intervewed by Jordan Smith of Fireflight and Phil Batty of Force-7.

The pupils were encouraged to come up with business ideas. Pupils from Andrew Marvell School won an award for their idea. Home Secretary Alan Johnson MP (pictured left) presented the prize to them, who is a patron of the Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership. This years  Enterprise Awards for those who support Hull's enterprising young people went to Gordon Beastall, Steve Booth, Tony Lynn and Lynn Green. The John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Award went to Alan Johnson MP
