Places for People Group

The Places for People Group was formed in 1999, incorporating housing associations such as North British Housing and Bristol Churches. The Group currently owns and manages over 56,000 homes and operates throughout the UK from Edinburgh to the Isle of Wight working in partnership with over 200 local authorities and numerous other partners. The group is structured to have a number of different companies providing a wide range of services, for example providing homes for affordable rent, part rent/part ownership and outright sale, care and support services, employment and training initiatives and childcare services. These companies and the services have grown and evolved over the years, providing a mix of housing and support solutions for communities.
Places for People Neighbourhoods forms part of the Group and is a registered charity. Its objectives are: “to improve the quality of life for people and communities, particularly for those who suffer disadvantage as a result of exclusion from the labour market and inadequate access to essential services”.
This is a wide ranging brief which includes implementing the following strategies:
•    Learning and employability
•    Enterprise and business creation
•    Community safety
•    Financial inclusion
•    Neighbourhood Planning
The activities form part of a wider approach to developing “Neighbourhoods of choice for all” where communities and individual’s economic, social and cultural needs are met. Activities are delivered as part of a wider neighbourhood approach based upon identified need and local community involvement.
Since 2006 Places for People  have helped our customers to achieve the following:
• 12111 people have accessed our worklessness services
• 1865 people have secured employment
• 3758 people have entered training or further study
• 1507 people have attended self employment awareness raising sessions
• 353 new businesses have been established
• 1070 existing businesses have been supported
