Jack Brignall
JACK BRIGNALL MBE
Members of the Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership paid tribute to philanthropist and businessman Jack Brignall MBE, who has died. The Beverley-born Chairman of property developers the Wykeland Group, received an MBE in June for his community work.
Jack built an illustrious career in the motor and property sector and had a significant impact on the development of our city region, not only through the string of major projects that he delivered but also through his tireless charity work, commitment to local causes and passionate desire to give something back to the area in which he was born, lived and worked all his life - in particular, activities that supported young people.
Jack was heavily involved in the Daisy Appeal, The Deep and the education foundations at Hull City and Hull Kingston Rovers. He also gave a substantial contribution to the John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank in order to support enterprising young people with connections to East Hull.
Charles Cracknell of the Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership Secretariat said,
"Our condolences go to Jack's wife Beryl, daughters Jane, Sarah and Catherine, his younger sister Margaret Stephenson and his eight grandchildren. He was a great supporter of the city's young people and a gentleman who served the city with great distinction. I have known Jack for a number of years and was lost for words when he gave a donation to the Youth Enterprise Bank. He liked the idea of our taking a risk to enable young people to live the dream and he liked the fact that we support young entrepreneurs under the age of 18.
The sad thing is we never got the chance to thank him further and had intended this year to award him the city's youth enterprise award during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November - however we will still salute his support for our enterprising young people."
