Archbishop Sentamu Academy

Archbishop Sentamu Academy became Hull’s first Academy in September 2008, with specialisms in Science, Business and Enterprise we seek to transform our community through education.
Not only were we the first Hull based Academy but our selection as a sample scheme for Hull’s Building Schools for the Future programme will result in our students having access to state of the art facilities on a site with curricular, operational and financial freedom.
This unique opportunity must be maximised and with that in mind we are looking at the local business community to be involved in the Academy on a number of levels. We are committed to engaging local employers to influence educational delivery to shape the employees of tomorrow.
In delivering our Business and Enterprise specialism we are looking to establish a number of student led businesses and enlist the assistance of local industry to mentor some of these projects, we are also keen for business to feature throughout our curriculum.
We feel speakers from business making the connection from their field of expertise to specific academic subjects will bring not only that subject to life but also the career path in that particular industry.
Our plans to develop careers advice to include our own recruitment consultant will focus heavily on tailoring our curriculum, through BTEC delivery, to the demands of our local employment area.
We want to address the skills shortages identified by local employers through changes to curriculum delivery driven by those employers to give our students maximum opportunity in the workplace.
