A Run For Your Money
Youth Enterprise supporters the St Stephen's Centre recently completed the first-ever Jane Tomlinson’s Hull 10K which was started by Mike, Steven and Rebecca Tomlinson and the Lord Mayor of Hull Councillor Karen Woods.
Mike and Rebecca Tomlinson also joined the runners – and for Mike it was the first time he had taken part in one of the events set up in Jane’s memory.
Mike said: “It was really fantastic to be able to take part and see and experience the amazing atmosphere around the course first hand. From the day we launched the event in Hull, the response has been amazing; the city has really embraced the event and the spirit of Run For All. Until everyone has collected their sponsorship money, we won’t know how much the run has raised. We do know there were a fantastic number of charities being supported and if today’s great atmosphere is anything to go by, the first ever Hull 10K should have raised huge amounts for good causes.
“Jane’s wish was always to bring a run to Hull and it was wonderful that today that wish came to fruition. I hope everyone involved, runners and spectators, had a really fantastic day. I would like to thank everyone involved – the council, volunteers, sponsors, runners and supporters - for helping us make the Hull 10K happen.”
Ruth Truelove the Finance & Administration Manager at St Stephen's Hull commented, "My god it was hot, but we did enjoy taking part and supporting Jane Tomlinson's Run for All!"
Ruth and her colleagues from St Stephen's did really well in the heat.
