Hot from the editing room....NEW VIDEO OF Tuesday's HULL READY EVENT!

team working

Business leaders had a treat when inspirational youngsters showcased their entrepreneurial talents as part of Business Week 2010.
The Hull Youth Enterprise and Rotherham Ready partnerships held  an event at Hull Kr's home at Craven Park, where children from five primary schools ( East Halton Primary, Highland Primary, North Ferriby, Thorpepark and Thorpe Hesley Junior School from Rotherham)  presented their enterprise stories to an audience of leading politicians as well as key education and business opinion formers from across the Humber.
At the event  delegates also heard from Claire Young, runner up in the BBC series "The Apprentice" in 2008 and an Ambassador for Enterprise UK.  After their presentations, the children set the adults a task of designing and marketing a  t-shirt to promote Business Week 2011 or Global Entreprenurship Week 2010 with a World Cup theme,  which five teams had to present to the "Mini Rottweiler Pit". (Claire Young became known on TV as "The Rottweiler"!). The winning team was the Otters and their design wiill be printed and worn in Global Entreprenurship Week in November; the team donated their prize money of £200 to be divided amongst the primary schools that took part in the day to help them develop their enterprising ideas.

Claire Young said: "Enterprise is open to everyone and anyone, and Hull and Rotherham are certainly leading the way in how they work with their primary pupils - I really enjoyed my time in Hull and am honoured to be invited back for November and to help develop a retail challenge with St Stephens Centre and Hull City Council in the near future.
"Programmes like "Junior Apprentice", "The Apprentice" and "Dragon's Den" have made business and enterprise much more accessible and exciting to young people and hopefully removed some of the common misconceptions."

Bitwasp Interactive Ltd is a small computer games business which was founded in September 2008 by James Stubbs and Oliver Copley. We had both studied Computer Science with Games Development at The University of Hull, and graduated from the University in the summer of 2008.

By April 2009, after securing funding from the ‘Acorn fund’ and ‘Youth Enterprise Bank’, we had moved into a brand new office in the Enterprise Centre at The University of Hull. With Bitwasp Interactive we aimed to target the ever expanding “casual game’s” market, as well as offering a service to other companies wishing to harness the power of games as a marketing tool. Our first contract was done on behalf of the Youth Enterprise Bank who required an interactive game with the purpose of promoting enterprise to young children for their ‘clued up in hull’ website.
